The EDGE

Program Options

What is a challenge course? A Challenge Course is a program that creates interactive experiences that create interactions similar to those that occur with groups in the workplace or classroom. Then a challenge course program facilitates reflections on those experiences to guide learning and opportunity to implement new learning in the next experience on the course, ultimately building connections of how team skills transfer to groups’ experience outside of the EDGE. Fun is a key part of the Challenge Course as participants interact and learn valuable information about themselves, each other, and the group as a unit.

EDGE Experiences on the Challenge Course include a combination of mental and physical challenges that require groups to work towards an identified goal.

Portable Initiatives or Ground-Based Elements

encompass activities done with both feet on the ground. EDGE programs always start with these in order to get the group comfortable with the program expectations and to build a strong foundation. Edge On Wheels activities contain only these types of initiatives. These types of activities can be facilitated at tables, in conference spaces, or seated. They can occur indoors or outdoors. These are also the most accessible activities for individuals with physical limitations.

Low Ropes Challenge Course Elements

are fixed elements made of poles, steel cable, thick rope, wooden platforms, and other components that sit just off the ground and cannot be removed. These elements are designed to withstand heavy use and the weight of multiple people.

High Ropes or Aerial Challenge Course Elements
These are elements of the EDGE Challenge Course that increase the level of challenge by increasing the height and physical component of individuals’ experience. The whole team works together to support the climber as they aim to ascend or traverse our elements, building trust, support, and communication between individual climbers and their team. Individuals may choose to climb or keep their feet on the ground. Typically this is the most exciting part of the day and is considered the “Peak” experience.

  • Alpine Tower – This 50 foot climbing structure offers 6 different routes to climb up to 3 tiers to reach the top platform while attached to a dynamic belay.
  • Total Team Challenge – This structure starts with a cargo net climb up to the first 20ft platform. From there, individuals are attached to a continuous belay system where they cross 4 challenges before Zwinging back to the ground. This is limited to high school age and older.
  • Giant Swing – additional information upcoming
  • Power Pole – additional information upcoming
