Experiential Learning for Youth
The EDGE serves youth in 5th grade and older, working with a wide range of youth organizations including church groups, scouts, and sports teams.
The EDGE provides youth groups with engaging, hands-on experiences that support personal growth, teamwork, leadership, and connection in an outdoor learning environment. Programs are designed to help young people apply social, emotional, and life skills in real-time, collaborative situations.
The EDGE Learning Process
EDGE programs follow a clear and intentional learning process that supports growth beyond the activity itself:
- Experience: Youth engage in hands-on challenges that highlight communication, leadership, trust, and decision-making.
- Reflection: Facilitated conversations help participants make sense of what happened, how they worked together, and what they learned.
- Application: Participants identify takeaways they can apply to their group, team, or everyday life.
This process helps learning feel meaningful, memorable, and transferable.
Skill Development Through Experience
EDGE programs give youth the opportunity to learn by doing, strengthening essential life skills that carry back into their teams, groups, and communities. EDGE experiences are intentionally designed to help youth:
- Take ownership of their actions and choices
- Understand the impact of their decisions on themselves and others
- Practice cooperation, communication, and perseverance
- Learn how to navigate challenges and setbacks in a supportive environment
Through shared experiences, participants build confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging — all while having fun.
EDGE facilitators partner with youth leaders to ensure program experiences are age-appropriate, purposeful, and aligned with group goals. In addition to core teamwork skills, organizations may request an added area of emphasis when booking a program.

Group Leadership & Youth Support
Adult leaders and chaperones play an essential role in setting expectations before arriving at The EDGE and supporting youth behavior during the program. We strongly encourage groups to provide the same behavioral, emotional, and learning supports youth receive in their regular programs or teams to help ensure a safe, positive experience for all participants. To best support youth, we ask organizations to share relevant information about participant needs in advance so programs can be thoughtfully planned and inclusive.
Summer Camp Fun
While the EDGE does not provide a specific summer camp program, EDGE Programs can provide support for summer camps and camp staff! Include an EDGE program as part of a staff training – not only will this allow staff to build a work culture with clear core values, they will pick up some group games & facilitation strategies to use with campers.
The EDGE can provide a key experience for campers as a week-end field trip or a peak adventure experience full of fun and growth. Older campers can enhance emerging leadership skills at the EDGE.
